Trying to get fit.

I have managed a little bit of painting this week, but my main emphasis has been my fitness and weight gain. Since my heart has been out of rhythm and the lockdown I have been sitting about far too much. I read that I can do some gentle exercise but walking gets you too close to people for comfort so the old exercise bike came out of the shed...

Gannin great guns!, the seat was a killer so out came a natty red cushion.

Said cushion slips causing some pain in me goolies.

Oh well, no pain no gain I suppose. I may need a cycling helmet in case I fall off.

  1. Good for you Paul - cycling, even static cycling, is good for the heart and the head and is low impact (though not on the parts you sit on).

    1. Thanks Maudlin Jack, I have to be careful not to strain my ticker as it is constantly out of rhythm nowadays. I don't want to go for a fourth procedure due to Covid so I will just have to live with it for now. We had a good laugh though when my wife took the pictures.

    1. Hi Tony, I bought this bike years ago to help my arthritic knees but it did not help much. What did help was when I stopped pulling pallets of groceries about!. I will be careful with my back though, it has been dodgy for a long time.
      Take care,
      Paul.

  4. You may find it more comfortable if you can put the seat up a notch or two...?? Would take the bend out of your knees on the down stroke.. ooo-errrr! :o)

  5. Hi Paul - Good to see your mode of exercise- bit concerning when you've Heart problems...I'm suppose to walk for an hour a day - though I've overlooked this these past weeks. Stay well and safe there Paul. Look forward to your next 54mm post or anything you want to share with us. Cheers. KEV.

    1. Thanks KEV, from what I have read I am able to exercise as long as I don't push it. I am much less symptomatic than I was years ago and have found I can do stuff that I could not have done then. Digging my mothers garden has been a bit too much for me though and I am going to grass seed it ASAP.
      Regards,
      Paul.

PS The bike is hard on me jacksy though, i am walking about like John Wayne.

  7. Good for you, Paul - excellent weather and setting to get fit. For the record, I've been a bit concerned of my recent high-blood pressure readings - not extremely high, but enough where my docs want me to keep track of it. Best regards, Dean
