Today I got out my 54mm toy soldiers and had a quick battle using modified "Funny Little Wars" rules by Padre Paul Wright. I borrowed a toy building that my son had when he was little.
The fight is for control of the crossroads.
French Zouaves.
The Germans advance.
The cavalry prepare to charge.
The French fire is very effective.
The return fire is not so effective.
Close range.
The French lancers win convincingly.
The Germans retire and are unable to rally.
And the French take the crossroads.
La victoire!.
Great fun!.
Love the 54mm action , I haven't play 'Funny Little Wars' in ages - must dig them out again .
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony, I have often fancied playing it with smaller scale soldiers using centimetres instead of inches.

Paul.
Hi Paul- Yes, always a soft spot for 54mm- your French and Prussian figures look superb - good choice of the House at the Cross-Roads just fits in perfectly. Cheers. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThanks KEV, our John is unaware that I have re-possessed his railway station house. He is 23 though so he might not give a shit.
DeleteRegards,
Paul.
For goodness sake. I've just bought some 30mm Spencer Smith Zouaves, now i want 54mm! These look great, haven't tried these rules though, will have a look.
ReplyDeleteI love those Spencer Smiths, Tony at Tin Soldiering On (above) has a wonderful collection which inspired me to buy the 54mm as they were cheaper. If I could I would have the Spencer Smiths.
DeleteRegards,
Paul.
What make are these then Paul?
DeleteArmies in Plastic mainly with an Imex ACW gun and some HaT ACW Zouaves that are markedly smaller than the AIP.
DeleteI got the AIP from Transport Models in Preston.
